Osmored is based on nephelometric and turbidimetric-reading system for determination of the Erythrocyte Osmotic Resistance (EOR). The determination of EOR is a test capable of identifying the resistance of erythrocyte membranes subject to physical stretching due to internal water accumulation. It allows to differentiate various types ofanaemia.
EOR is the screening test for the population at high risk of microcythaemia, and it can be used as a confirmation for the diagnosis made with the cell counter.
The dermination of EOR is the only screening test available for the diagnosis of congenital spherocytosis, and immune-haemolytic anaemia induced by increased fragility ofthe cells.
Osmored is simple to use, reliable and requires no maintenance. The system allows small to medium sized laboratories to perform the diagnosis using whole blood.
